History & Milestones

Our business journey began in 2001 with consultancy services, following which we expanded into a diversified financial services business, including investment banking, stock broking, NBFC operations, and related financial services. Through a strong focus on profitability, governance, and trusted customer service, we successfully scaled the business and achieved a public listing through an IPO during FY 2010–11.

In FY 2013-14, we entered the digital healthcare and e-commerce space by launching the SastaSundar platform under our wholly owned subsidiary (SHBL).

As part of our strategic transformation, we exited our core financial services business during FY 2015-16 to focus entirely on healthcare, digital commerce, and technology-driven consumer services.

In FY 2016-17 and FY 2018-19, Rohto Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd. Japan, invested in SHBL, acquiring an approximate 15.03% equity stake. In FY 2018-19, Mitsubishi Corporation Japan, also invested in SHBL with an approximate equity participation of 12.83%.

During FY 2017-18, we further expanded our healthcare ecosystem by launching:

  • RetailerShakti, our B2B commerce and distribution platform.
  • During FY 2018-19, we started Genu Path Labs, our diagnostics business.

In the following years, we entered into a strategic partnership and divested a 75.1% stake in the step-down subsidiary operating the SastaSundar platform, while continuing to retain 100% ownership of RetailerShakti and maintaining supply rights to the SastaSundar consumer platform.

Subsequently, upon conclusion of the partnership with Flipkart, we reacquired the platform rights through our step-down subsidiary.

Today, we independently own and operate both the SastaSundar and RetailerShakti platforms, continuing our mission of building an integrated, technology-enabled healthcare and digital commerce ecosystem.

Core Purpose & Values

OUR CORE VALUE

Being Genuine —

As Natural and Unconditional as a Mother's Love.

At HealthX, we have one core value — and one is enough.

Being Genuine is not a policy we follow or a principle we remind ourselves of. It is who we are. Just as a mother's love needs no rules, no incentives, and no reminders — it flows naturally, consistently, and without condition — so does our commitment to being genuine in everything we do.

It is the foundation on which SastaSundar and RetailerShakti are built. It is the reason our customers trust us, our partners rely on us, and our team is proud to be part of us.

Being Genuine means three things at HealthX:

💊

In Our Services

We deliver what we promise — genuine medicines, genuine wellness products, genuine diagnostics. Our assurance of genuine products is not a marketing claim. It is a reflection of who we are. When a mother cares for her child, she gives only the best — no compromise, no substitution. We do the same for every customer we serve.

🤝

In Our Conduct

We do what is right — even when no one is watching. Our decisions, our operations, our relationships — all are held to the same standard of honesty and integrity. We are compliant, transparent, and accountable in everything we do.

💬

In Our Communication

We say what we mean and mean what we say. With our customers, our retail partners, our investors, and our team — our communication is honest, clear, and respectful. No overpromising. No hiding behind words. Just the truth, with warmth.

"Being Genuine is our only core value — because like a mother's love, it is the one thing that needs no explanation and no compromise."
Our Culture

Spirit of the Child

If Being Genuine is our value — the Spirit of the Child is how we live it every day.

We believe the most extraordinary teacher of how to work, grow, and connect with others is a child. A child does not carry the weight of bias, ego, or fear. A child wakes up every morning ready to learn, ready to play, and ready to love — without condition and without boundary.

That is the culture we nurture at HealthX.

🌱

We Grow Every Day

A child grows without effort — naturally, joyfully, and consistently. At HealthX, we grow the same way. We learn from every experience, every mistake, and every success. We do not stand still. We do not settle. Every day we are a little better than yesterday — as individuals and as a company.

🌈

We Do Not Discriminate

A child sees no difference in gender, religion, language, or colour. A child simply sees another human being worthy of connection and play. At HealthX, we carry that same purity of vision. Every person — employee, customer, or partner — is treated with equal respect, equal opportunity, and equal warmth. Our diversity is our strength and our joy.

❤️

We Are Emotionally Connected

A child loves openly and without reservation. At HealthX, we care deeply — about our customers' health, about our partners' success, about our colleagues' wellbeing, and about the communities we serve. We are not just a business. We are a family — connected by purpose and by genuine care for one another.

💡

We Innovate and Learn Every Day

A child is the world's greatest innovator — curious, fearless, and endlessly creative. At HealthX, we bring that same spirit to our work. We question, we experiment, we imagine, and we build. We are not afraid to try something new or to admit we do not know something. Because learning is how we grow — and growing is how we serve better.

😊

We Are Joyful

A child brings joy simply by being present. At HealthX, we bring that same energy to our work. We celebrate progress, we support each other, and we find meaning and happiness in what we do every day. Because healthcare is not just our business — it is our calling.

"We work with the honesty of a mother's love and the spirit of a child — growing, caring, and innovating every single day."

The Promise We Make

To our customers, our partners, our investors, and our team — this is who we are at HealthX:

Genuine in our heart. Child in our spirit.

Letter from our Founder

A personal message on the problem we set out to solve, the families behind our mission, and the ecosystem we are building.

A Letter from our Founders · 2026

To every patient, caregiver, and healthcare professional who deserves better.

The Problem We Could No Longer Ignore

India is the pharmacy of the world. We manufacture medicines for over 195 countries and territories. And yet, every single day, millions of our own people cannot get the right medicine, at the right time, at the right price. This paradox is what drove us to build HealthX.

The Indian pharmaceutical and wellness distribution system is one of the most fragmented industries on the planet. With over 65,000 stockists and 800,000 retail pharmacies and no consolidated digital backbone, the result is a system full of gaps that patients fall through every day.

13%-30%

of medicines in India are estimated to be fake or substandard

ASSOCHAM / Lancet / USTR Reports

60%+

of Indians still lack access to modern medicines when they need them

BioPharm International / WHO India

50%+

of chronic disease patients in India do not take medicines as prescribed

Frontiers in Pharmacology, 2023

A typical pharmacy in India occupies just 150 to 500 square feet. With over 50,000 SKUs in the market, often multiple brands for the same molecule, no single store can carry adequate inventory. Filling one prescription can mean visiting three different pharmacies. For a working family in India, that is a half-day lost. For a chronically ill patient who needs to do this monthly, it becomes a reason to simply give up on treatment.

And the problem of fake medicines is not abstract. One in five medicines sold in India's major cities is estimated to be fraudulent, containing no active ingredient, an expired compound, or worse, something harmful. A system without traceability, without temperature-controlled logistics, without data, is a system that cannot be trusted.

The Tailwinds That Make This the Right Moment

We are building HealthX at a moment when every macroeconomic signal is pointing in the same direction.

India now has the world's second-largest diabetic population, nearly 101 million diagnosed and an estimated 212 million if undiagnosed cases are counted. That is one in four of the world's diabetics, living right here.

IDF Diabetes Atlas 11th Edition, 2025 / The Lancet & NCD-RisC, 2022

India is rapidly becoming the chronic disease capital of the world. Diabetes, hypertension, cardiac conditions, and obesity are no longer diseases of the elderly; they are afflicting people in their thirties and forties, in villages and cities alike. The population requiring sustained, long-term medical care is projected to exceed 400 million, larger than the entire population of the United States. This is not a crisis on the horizon. It is happening now.

At the same time, India's digital revolution is creating the infrastructure for a new kind of healthcare. Smartphone and UPI adoption have made digital commerce a reality for hundreds of millions of first-time users. People who once had no choice but to stand in line at a government hospital are now discovering that healthcare can come to them. The model, however, must be India-specific: purely digital does not work here. What works is a hybrid model, technology and inventory at the centre, and trusted last-mile human networks at the edge.

The wholesale distribution landscape is also at a tipping point. India has over 65,000 distributors, whereas developed nations operate with 5 to 10 large players. Consolidation is inevitable. AI-driven supply chain management, real-time inventory visibility, and compliance-grade warehousing, with temperature-controlled logistics, will define the winners. HealthX is being built for that future.

And as AI transforms healthcare delivery globally, it will need structured, digital-first health data to deliver on its promise of prediction and prevention. The ecosystem that captures that data, from prescriptions to adherence patterns to supply chain signals, will shape the next decade of Indian healthcare. We intend to build that ecosystem.

The Story Behind the Mission

We did not arrive at HealthX through a market report. We arrived here through our families.

In the founder's own words

I am diabetic. I have obesity. When I ask myself why, the honest answer has two parts. My father was diabetic, and that was not in my control. But I was 25 once, and nobody told me what to eat, how to move, or that my future was being written in the choices I was making right then. That ecosystem of information did not exist.

My father was a textile trader. He died at 62 after five years of dialysis and complications, because he treated his diabetes like a problem that disappeared when the symptoms did. He factored his time cost. He skipped medicines when he felt fine. He didn't know that diabetes does not forgive silence.

My mother waited twenty years for a surgery I could only arrange after I had a job and an income. For the last fifteen years of her life, she was bedridden, not from an unavoidable condition, but from muscle loss that could have been prevented if anyone had told her that strength training was as important as her medicines. No one told her.

My younger brother suffered from TB for two months without recovering. The reason, we later discovered, was that the medicines he was taking were counterfeit. Not substandard, fake. In India.

And our neighbour's uncle, a kind man with knee pain, was advised by well-meaning relatives to eat methi laddoos made with sugar and ghee as a traditional remedy. He went blind. When he finally reached a hospital, they found his blood sugar was dangerously high, made catastrophically worse by the sugar he was consuming as medicine. He had never been tested for diabetes.

These are not statistics. These are people we loved. And they are not exceptional stories; they are the ordinary stories of ordinary Indian families navigating a healthcare system that was never designed to protect them.

HealthX exists because the cost of an information gap is not a missed opportunity; it is a life. It is five years of dialysis. It has been twenty years since a mother lay in bed. It is a brother taking poison in the shape of medicine.

We are building what we wish had existed for our families.

What We Are Building: The HealthX Ecosystem

HealthX is not a single product. It is a connected ecosystem of platforms, people, and knowledge, each one addressing a different point of failure in India's healthcare chain. Together, they form something that has never existed in India before: a full-stack, trust-first health infrastructure for every citizen.

RetailerShakti

B2B Supply Platform

Our platform caters to Pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres. We solve stock-outs, pricing opacity, and supply delays at the institutional level, with guaranteed 24-hour delivery, full transparency, easy returns, and the complete JITO generic medicine range at up to 72% discount. The supply chain that healthcare institutions deserve.

SastaSundar

Consumer Health Platform

Our direct-to-patient app guarantees 100% Genuine Medicines delivered to your door, at affordable prices, with the JITO brand making quality generics accessible at up to 60% less than branded alternatives. SastaSundar also provides diagnostic services and is building an agentic AI layer for personalised health counselling and doctor consultations, so that the right guidance reaches every patient, not just those who can afford a private clinic.

SastaSundar Health & Happiness Podcast

Health Education & Awareness

The information gap is as dangerous as the medicine gap. Our podcast delivers honest, evidence-based health information to patients, doctors, and the general public, without the noise of commercial interest. Topics range from managing chronic conditions and understanding generic medicines to nutrition, lifestyle, and navigating the healthcare system. Because my father died partly from not knowing. Because my neighbour went blind from believing the wrong advice. Information saves lives.

HealthBuddy Network

Last-Mile Human Infrastructure

India cannot be served by technology alone. Our HealthBuddy network places trained, trusted human agents at the last mile, empowered by HealthX's central inventory, technology, and support systems. They are the bridge between a digital platform and a patient who needs someone to walk with them. This is the phygital model India needs: world-class resources at the centre, human warmth at the edge.

These four pillars are not independent, they are by design, interconnected. A patient discovers SastaSundar through a HealthBuddy. They learn about their condition through the Podcast. Their hospital sources medicines through RetailerShakti. Their health data, over time, feeds the AI layer that helps predict, prevent, and personalise. This is the flywheel. This is how we change healthcare at scale.

  • 100% genuine medicines guaranteed, every order, every time, on SastaSundar.
  • Affordable access for JITO generics at up to 60-72% less, without compromising on lab-certified quality.
  • Complete services for medicines, diagnostics, AI-powered counselling, and doctor consultations, all in one place.
  • Honest information through our podcast, for patients, doctors, and families who deserve truth over tradition.
  • Human connection through our HealthBuddy network, for the India that technology alone cannot reach.

We started this with personal grief. We are continuing it with professional conviction. And we are committed to it for the long run, because the problem is generational, and so must be the solution.

With purpose and gratitude,

Social Responsibility

Everything We Do Is Driven By Social Purpose

At HealthX, social responsibility is not a department. It is not an annual report chapter. It is not something we do after we have done business.

It is the reason we exist.

Every decision we make, every platform we build, every village we reach, every student we empower, and every patient we help — is driven by one simple belief: that doing good and doing well are not two different things. They are the same thing.

Here is how we live that belief every day.

Our Business Is Our Biggest Social Act

Genuine Healthcare. Affordable Prices. Every Corner of India.

Long before the word CSR entered the corporate dictionary, businesses that truly cared simply built things that made people's lives better. That is what we do at HealthX — every single day.

In a country as vast and complex as India, access to genuine, affordable healthcare is not guaranteed for everyone. Fake medicines cost lives. High prices keep families from seeking help. Poor distribution leaves entire communities without basic medicines. And lack of awareness means people suffer in silence when they do not have to.

We built SastaSundar and RetailerShakti to change this — one customer, one retailer, one village at a time.

When a mother in a small town in Jharkhand gets a genuine medicine at an affordable price through her local HealthBuddy — that is social responsibility in action.

When a pharmacy in a remote corner of Assam gets reliable, transparent supply through RetailerShakti — that is social responsibility in action.

When our JITO branded medicines make quality healthcare affordable for families who thought it was out of reach — that is social responsibility in action.

We do not just talk about accessible, affordable, and genuine healthcare. We deliver it — from the busiest cities to the last village of India.

"Our business is our biggest social act — because every genuine medicine we deliver, every village we reach, and every family we serve is a life made a little better."

Tree Campus Academy Foundation
Tree Campus

Empowering a Generation. One English Lesson at a Time.

We believe healthcare alone cannot transform lives. Education does too.

In India today, millions of young people are held back not by their talent or their ambition — but by the language barrier. English, which opens the doors to better jobs, greater dignity, and wider opportunity, remains inaccessible to countless students from Hindi and Bengali speaking communities.

Tree Campus is our answer to that.

What is Tree Campus?

Tree Campus is a digital learning platform — available as a simple, beautiful app — that teaches English to students from Hindi and Bengali backgrounds, in a way that is joyful, engaging, and genuinely effective. Through videos, games, and easy interactive lessons, students learn at their own pace and in their own language. And when they need clarity, real human teachers are just a Zoom class away — ready to answer questions and encourage progress in real time.

The Impact So Far

50,000+ students have already completed the Tree Campus course.

Rs 5,000 estimated increase in monthly earning potential per student.

Rs 300 Crore+ cumulative economic value of skill improvement across all students.

But beyond the numbers is something even more important — the respect a young person earns in their job, in their community, and in their own eyes when they can finally express themselves with confidence. That is a transformation no spreadsheet can fully capture.

"We did not build Tree Campus because it was expected of us. We built it because we believed that a child who learns English today can change the story of their entire family tomorrow."

CharityForHealth.org

Because No One Should Go Without Care.

At HealthX, we make healthcare affordable. But we know that for some, even affordable is not enough.

There are people in our country — real people, with real names and real families — for whom even a deeply discounted medicine, a subsidised doctor visit, or a reduced-price diagnostic test remains out of reach. Not because they are unwilling. But because life has placed them in circumstances where every rupee is already spoken for.

For them, we built CharityForHealth.org.

What is CharityForHealth?

CharityForHealth is a first-of-its-kind platform that brings together the generosity of CSR funds, NGOs, and kind-hearted individuals — and connects it directly to people who need primary healthcare the most. Medicine. A doctor's consultation. A diagnostic test. The basics that every human being deserves — regardless of what is in their pocket.

How It Works

💊 Through our JITO category, we offer medicines, doctor consultations, and diagnostics at 60% below commercial prices — making healthcare as affordable as possible.

🤝 For those who cannot afford even the remaining 40%, CharityForHealth bridges that final gap.

💛 Donors — corporates fulfilling CSR mandates, NGOs working on the ground, or generous individuals — contribute through the platform.

🎟️ Support reaches those who need it as coupons encashable directly at the SastaSundar app and JITO Health Centres — with dignity, transparency, and no middlemen.

No bureaucracy. No uncertainty. Just genuine help, reaching genuine need — transparently and with care.

"CharityForHealth exists because we believe that the gap between a person and the healthcare they need should never be measured in money. If we can help close that gap — we must."

At HealthX, we measure our success not just in revenue — but in villages reached, students empowered, and patients helped. We believe business and compassion are not opposites. They are partners — and when they walk together, extraordinary things happen.
